About 4" Replacement SPIKE 2 Speaker Plates

These Replacement SPIKE 2 Speaker Plates are ONLY for use along with Type 11, 12 or 14 SPIKE 2 Speaker Light Kits. They are also ONLY for use with 4" speakers. These were mainly designed and made to make the installation easier for certain aftermarket speakers with my Type 11, 12 and 14 SPIKE 2 Speaker Light Kits. For more information on when these 4" Replacement SPIKE 2 Speaker Plates may make your installation easier, please see the section about using aftermarket speakers with Speaker Light Kits in SPIKE 2 games. These replacement plates have some other uses and benefits that will be described below.

When designing these replacement speaker plates, the main point was to remove the bars that cover the speaker holes in the factory speaker plates. Taking these bars out of the design makes it so an upgraded 4" speaker that has extended tweeters can mount directly (without a spacer) to the speaker plate and it's extended tweeter can go through the speaker plate's speaker hole.

While doing this I decided to make some more changes. I changed the mounting studs from the factory speaker plates. Instead of only having 2 mounting studs and having the speakers mount in a diamond orientation, I changed it to having 4 mounting studs and to have the speakers mount in a more traditional squared up orientation.

I also had the speaker holes moved, so when the Replacement SPIKE 2 Speaker Plates are mounted behind my SPIKE 2 Speaker Light Kit frames (and slid all the way outward on their mounting studs) the speaker holes will be centered behind the honeycomb grill area instead of being off-center like the speaker holes in the factory speaker plates.

So make sure, when mounting these Replacement SPIKE 2 Speaker Plates, that you have the speaker hole closest to the edge of the plate toward the LCD screen and the plate slid all the way outward (away from the LCD screen) when securing it with the nuts.

Having the speaker hole bars removed, the added mounting studs, the speakers positioned in a squared up position and the speaker holes now centered, it then made it very easy to be able to mount one of my Type 10 Speaker Light Kits (ex: for Ghostbusters) behind the 4" Replacement SPIKE 2 Speaker Plates.

This "Yo Dawg" Speaker Light Kit in a Speaker Light Kit was nothing that I was intending on making, but after the 4" Replacement SPIKE 2 Speaker Plate changes were made, it did look very nice and made it easy to do. As described, it is simply a Type 10 - SPIKE 1 Speaker Light Kit mounted behind a Type 11, Type 12 or Type 14 SPIKE 2 Speaker Light Kit, with the help of these 4" Replacemant SPIKE 2 Speaker Plates. Each light kit has the full functionality as it does being used on its own and the colors and transition effects of each light kit (inner and outer) can be changed independently as you desire.

I believe this Speaker Light Kit in a Speaker Light Kit setup will only work with the standard 4" factory speakers. As upgraded speakers usually have bigger magnets, which would probably make them not fit behind both of the speaker light frames on the right side.

There are also other components that are needed to wire this type of "Yo Dawg" setup. So if you are interested in doing it, please contact me at my support e-mail and let me know what you are interested in. I can make sure you have all that you need to get them connected, looking their best and let you know how to order what you need.

These 4" Replacement SPIKE 2 Speaker Plates are sold in pairs. They are flat black texture powder coated like the factory speaker plates. They include 4 nuts and washers that are needed for the additional mounting studs that were added.
